Once again, I return to the brilliant LEGO Ideas series to look at their most recent release. Really, this kit doesn’t need any introduction. It’s the iconic submarine featured in the 1968 animation of the same name. Even though I’m not a huge fan of the Beatles, I think almost everyone has fond memories of this film and as soon as I saw this kit I knew that I had to add it to my collection.

The set contains all of the pieces needed to make the Yellow Submarine and a stand with which to display it on. In addition, it comes with minifigures of the Beatles – John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr- as well as a figure of Jeremy. The Beatles come complete with a selection of accessories from the film including the submarine motor, an apple and half a hole.

This is another one of those kits that I’ve been eyeing up for a while. I’m a huge science-fiction geek and couldn’t resist having the chance to build my own LEGO TARDIS. This kit is modelled around the TARDIS as it appears in 2014 series, celebrating the Doctor and his most recent companion and enemies.

The kit contains all the pieces necessary to make the TARDIS (interior and exterior) and two Daleks. It also includes four minifigures (the Eleventh Doctor, the Twelfth Doctor, Clara Oswald and a Weeping Angel), as well as two sonic screwdrivers and a fez.

Here are some pictures of what you can find inside the box (and the building process):

So it turns out that Disney Village in Paris has a pretty substantial LEGO store. Due to its location, it seemed appropriate for me to bring back a Disney themed kit as a souvenir of my holiday! This kit builds WALL-E, the main character of the 2008 Disney/Pixar film of the same name. As this set was designed by a Pixar animator, it is a very faithful interpretation of the cutest Waste Allocation Load Lifter of them all.

The contents of this kit are very simple as it only provides pieces to build the robot and the Last Plant on Earth. WALL-E boasts an adjustable neck, poseable head and arms, gripping hands, moving wheels and a storage compartment in his chest. Here’s some photos of what came in the box and the construction process. Click on the thumbnails to enlarge:

Ghostbusters Ecto-1

Suggested Age: 10+
Pieces: 508
Casual Build Time: 2 hours
Dimensions: 9″ x 7″ x 2″
Brand: Ideas

It was a difficult choice which kit to build this month but we decided to grab Ecto-1 while we still could as a lot of toy stores in our area seem to have stopped stocking it. The kit was created for the 30th Anniversary of the original Ghostbusters movie and comes from the Ideas range – a series of kits that were voted into existence by LEGO enthusiasts. Here’s a look at the back of the box:

The contents of the kit are rather simple, consisting of four minifigures and the car itself. It comes with four proton packs, two walkie-talkies, a trap and a stand to display the figures on. The car has a removable roof to enable the figures to be posed inside it.

Here’s what came inside the box:
