Audi R8 LMS Ultra

Suggested Age: 7-14
Pieces: 175
Casual Build Time: 50 minutes
Dimensions: Car – over 1″ x 5″ x 1″ / Podium – over 1″ x 1″ x under 1″
Brand: Speed Champions

I’ve always enjoyed making LEGO cars but this is only the second one in this range that I’ve had the pleasure of making. These single car kits are decent value for money and come in a variety of styles, including Ferraris, Porsches and Fords. The only reason I went for the Audi over the others on display was because I liked the little trophy that came with it (yes, I am that sad).

The contents of the kit are pretty simple. It comes with pieces to build the car, a small podium, two flags, a trophy, a wrench and a mini-figure. I rather like the back of the box for this kit as it has a photo of what the real car looks like, showing that the LEGO version does look virtually identical.

Here are a couple of pictures of what came inside the box:

Tire Escape

Suggested Age: 5-12
Pieces: 47
Casual Build Time: 10 minutes
Dimensions: Police Water Scooter: over 1″ x 3″ x 1″ / Tire: 1″ x 1″ x under 1″
Brand: City

When I saw this kit in Langleys, I just couldn’t resist. I’m not sure what inspired this little LEGO set but it is such an amusing idea for a small kit! This is the first set I’ve bought from the LEGO City Police range. I debated buying one of their starter sets first but this just looked a lot more fun!

The kit contains the pieces necessary to build a Police Water Scooter, as well as two minifigures, a tire, an oar and a pair of handcuffs. Since there isn’t much more to this set, let’s take a little look at what came in the box:

The Water Dragon Adventure

Suggested Age: 7-12
Pieces: 212
Casual Build Time: 50 minutes
Dimensions: Dragon – over 3″ x 8″ x over 9″ / Waterfall – 3″ x 3″ x 3″
Brand: Elves

I’ve been avoiding the kits marketed as girls for reasons I’ll get into shortly but decided to give this one a try anyway purely because I love dragons. The box art is also very eye catching with beautiful character designs, bright colours and whimsical fonts.

The kit contains the necessary pieces to build Merina the Water Dragon and a magical Crystal Waterfall. There is also one mini doll (Naida Riverheart) and a selection of accessories for her to use, including a map, hairbrush, binoculars and perfume bottles.

Here are some photos of what can be found in the box:

Deep Sea Exploration Vessel

Suggested Age: 8-12
Pieces: 717
Casual Build Time: 3 .5 hours
Dimensions: Exploration Vessel – over 7″ x 12″ x 5″ / Shipwreck – over 5″ x 11″ x 5″ / Submarine – over 1″ x 3″ x 2″ / Scuba Scooter – over 1″ x 3″ x 1″ / Remote Sub – 3″ x 1″ x under 1″ / Lifeboat – over 1″ x 2″ x 1″ / Shark Cage – 3″ x 1″ x under 1″
Brand: City

As I mentioned in my previous post, I’ve had my eye on this kit for a long time. I really enjoy making vehicles and I don’t have any boats in my collection! I was also impressed by just how many separate parts this set boasts. Included in the box is the large exploration vessel, a shipwreck, a submarine, a remote sub, a scuba scooter, a lifeboat and a shark cage.

Both the vessel and lifeboat actually float in water and the vessel also includes a hidden cabin below the deck and working winch for the cage. On top of this, the kit also contains an impressive seven minifigures (four scuba divers, 2 crewmen and a deep sea diver), a buoy, a swordfish, an octopus, a white shark, 3 grey sharks and a whole bunch of accessories!

Here’s a few pictures of what’s inside the box and the building process:
